WEB ASSIGNMENT #4

1. Who was Alfred Stieglitz and why is he noteworthy in the history of photography?
 He ran art galleries in New York and introduced many avant-garde artists to the US.  He was also an American photographer along with being a modern art promoter who was instrumental over 50 years.
2. Choose a photograph he made, upload it to your blog, and explain why you chose it as your favorite by him.



I like this one because its from the rooftop of a building, it shows the city at night, and its all the same dark shades with just the bright lights from the buildings.
 
3. With what famous painter was he in a relationship? Who was she?  Upload a painting by her that you like.

 Georgia O'Keeffe, and she made large-format paintings of enlarged blossoms and pressed them close up to make it look like they were seen through a magnifying glass.

Photos from a can!


While taking these photos a problem I had first was making sure I did all the steps correctly and putting the photo paper in the can correctly.  However, after being able to capture an image through a can using no technology, I was fascinated and now I have a whole new prospective on the photography world.

Brownie Camera

1. WHAT IS A BROWNIE CAMERA? 

A simple and inexpensive camera that introduced the concept of "snapshot". The first one invented was a cardboard box camera, and it was meant to be a camera that anyone could afford to use.


2. WHO INVENTED IT AND WHEN?

Eastman Kodak invented the camera in February 1990.

3. HOW DID IT CHANGE SOCIETY,AND OF COARSE,          THE PHOTOGRAPHY WORLD? 

It led to things like the video camera, and it showed people that an expensive camera was not necessary for "quality" photography
